Cuba's Friday Night Market

I arrived to the site around 7pm and the first thing I noticed was that the area had little to no shelter which got me thinking that it could lead to a loss of customers since it was raining. I decided to note this down because I thought it could be quite interesting when it is compared to the underground market which is under shelter and the amount of customers coming into the market could be altered by the change in weather. This information could also be quite interesting to potentially add in the brochure because I figured some people may find it quite helpful if they knew the market that they were going to has a shelter, especially if it was on a rainy day like today.

I listed down some questions that I wanted to think about when I was at the Cuba market. I also took some photos to document and backup my questions. I listed a few of my favourite photos from tonight. I will try taking some more photos next week with a better camera.

Researching

For my activity I decided to focus on three different markets from the Wellington area. The markets that I have decided to do further researching on are: Cuba's Friday market, the underground Saturday market in Jervois Quay and Johnsonville's Sunday Fruits and Vegetable market. I decided to do some online research before visiting the markets so I could become a bit more familiar about what I'll be studying and also gathering some relevant information that I could potentially miss out when I visit the markets this coming week. These information that I have gathered so far could possibly be helpful for my final design.

Brainstorming

The class was divided into groups where we brainstormed about possible activities, locations and attractions that are found in the Wellington region. I will be focusing on one of these potential ideas that I have picked from my brainstorm and do further research on it for the next 6 weeks. We then set up a matrix table in class where we pinpointed the nuances, commonalities for a set of activity examples and also listing the adjectives that relates to the activity. I found this class activity quite helpful because we had to fill in some matrix tables for homework similar to what we had did in class. The matrix table helped me decide on my final activity that I can start researching in depth for the next 6 weeks.
